A Russian oligarch, anticipating conflict with President Putin, flees Moscow for the United States with the help of the kingpin for the Russian mafia based in Brooklyn. A decommissioned Soviet-era submarine is brought back to life for a new purpose. A New York gangster testifies against his boss and enters the Witness Protection program.

All converge on a quiet coastal town in North Carolina, where US Marshal Adam Taylor learns that his job of protecting the identity—and life—of his WITSEC client has become more complicated.

Taylor must use his skills as a marshal as well as those he developed in combat as a SEAL and enlist the powers of local law enforcement, the FBI, the US Coast Guard, and the US Navy in his attempt to save his client by saving the oligarch, who now wants out of the deal he’s made with the devil. But serendipity threatens all of his efforts when a danger no one could have foreseen comes out of the blue.

About the Author

After graduating from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, John L. DeBoer, M.D., F.A.C.S. completed a surgical residency in the U.S. Army and spent three years in the Medical Corps as a general surgeon. Thirty years of private practice later, he retired and began a new career as a writer.

Dr. DeBoer, a member of International Thriller Writers, has published more than ten novels. The father of two grown sons, he lives with his wife in North Carolina.
